Gamers are heartbroken about NES announcement

Safe to say, Nintendo’s NES Classic run didn’t go as most people would’ve liked.

Late last year, Nintendo announced that it was re-releasing its classic NES system for a mere $59.99. People were super excited about it – so excited that Nintendo vastly underestimated demand for its product. The systems that were available through traditional channels sold out instantly, and many who did get their hands on them took to re-selling them on sites like eBay for much higher sums.

Getting your hands on an NES remained practically impossible as the holiday season came and went, but gamers held out hope that Nintendo would release a larger batch of the systems at a later date.

But it’s not to be.

Nintendo told IGN on Thursday that the systems being shipped throughout April would be the last ones, and the product would be discounted after that, leaving many fans heartbroken.
